It was my first time at the South Philly Tap Room with the new chef and menu, and I must say, it was fantastic. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures. They re-did the inside and expanded it and it looked great. I started with the pork cheek nuggets. We had the luck to sit next to the chef who was doing paperwork, and upon hearing the indecision that was coming from our table, he was extremely helpful and had insight into all of his creations. He described the nuggets as "the best chicken nuggets you have ever tasted, except with pork." Well, he was spot on. They came out on a bed of spicy coleslaw, that was also delicious, and served with bbq and honey mustard sauces. These perfect plump, crispy (yet moist) nuggets were very rich and satisfying. Gina got the mac and cheese spring rolls. Wow. It was a great twist on the standard mac and cheese, served with pesto and marinara for dipping. The crispy flaky spring roll wrapper went great with the warm gooey mac and cheese.

Now for the best entree, which was also mine. I had the blue pig. It was highly anticipated, as the chef said immediately upon my question of what to eat, that I had to order that. So it was pork 3 ways for me tonight. The burger was amazing. It far exceeded my expectations. It was wild boar, with wild boar bacon and gorgonzola. I am still thinking about it. Served on homemade english muffin type bread. It was in the top three burgers of any kind I have ever had. I cant pinpoint the others right now. ( I actually just thought of them, and they were both in Utah) Anyway, the wild boar was so flavorful it was amazing.

I will be going back to the taproom, and now that I found out they serve brunch, it might be sooner rather then later. I will take pics next time, I promise.
