Why the need to read insults or racial slurs into everything? I am Chinese and I did NOT find the name of the business offensive, rather I enjoyed the experience of eating a good cheesesteak with my boyfriend who introduced me to this great place.Susannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5545710134936070477.post-67071919259702304172012-06-26T05:22:50.773-04:002012-06-26T05:22:50.773-04:00I'm sorry. I don't normally comment, but I...I'm sorry. I don't normally comment, but I had to address Anonymous May 20's and An0nym0u5e 's comments. First off, yes it is the name of that particular establishment. The argument at hand is whether or not it is right. I think you would agree that racial slurs of any kind are inappropriate. Yeah it was the guy's nickname, but a nickname derived from a racial slur because of the owners eyes.

Secondly, the slur "Chink" is also well rooted into US history. Its use began in the late 19th century, and riddled history with events such as slave labor treatment on the Transcontinental Railroad, the Chinese exclusion act, massacre known as the Chinese Massacre Cove and Rock Springs Massacre, Japanese internment camps, etc. So I believe the term, even though it may have alternate meanings, is solidified in racial slur history.

As for the wars, I believe you are directly focusing on WWII because of your comments. I won't bore you with the details, but basically the US and Japan were collecting territories in Asia, and war insured. Not to be a stickler about fighting, but I think dropping an A-bomb is technically cheating (joke, sort of). Just, in case you are not specifically talking about just that war, the only countries that the we(the US) have not won wars in were Asian countries (Vietnam and Korea).

As for An0nym0us5e, I understand where you are coming from with your first two sentences. But for the last part, its a new world and we all should share the love. I don't know about the 12 million part, but I wouldn't ind having a bride in every different country. :D

Its funny how people who complain about things not being PC are bombarded with angry complaints about people being PC. So basically, people complain, then others complain about their complaining. Then the original complainers complain about the people complaining about their complaining, and so on and so forth.Yellow Nazinoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5545710134936070477.post-33682460103079825222011-12-23T12:29:43.706-05:002011-12-23T12:29:43.706-05:00@Gersh the staff was on point.
